Based on Guangdong School of Posts & Telecom, and approved by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, Guangdong Vocational College of Posts & Telecom (hereinafter called “the College”) was established, which is a state-owned full-time college devoted to higher vocational education. The College mainly trains talented professionals in high-level vocational technical communication, with engineering as the main discipline, developing multi-discipline system including liberal arts, science, economics, management, etc, and uniting teaching, scientific research, and industry into one. The College is composed of four departments: Communication Engineering, Computer Science, Economic Management, and Foreign Languages, including such majors as communication technology, mobile communication technology, computer application technology, software technology, E-business, business enterprise administration, marketing, logistics management, business English, etc.
　　The College is located in the cultural district — Tianhe District, near to South China Normal University, Jinan University, and Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University, next to Tianhe Park, with convenient transportation and elegant environment.
　　The College is equipped with favorable teaching software and hardware conditions, with the floor area of over 100,000 m2 and the building area of over 60,000 m2, with teaching buildings, lab buildings, apartment buildings, dining rooms, and playground, and with the library housing over 200,000 books. The College is in possession of modern equipment and apparatus for teaching and scientific research, including labs, multimedia classrooms, audio-visual classrooms, long-distance education center, and such advanced computer network systems as office network, campus network, long-distance education network, etc. The College is provided with a team of full-time and part-time teaching staff, with complete disciplines, reasonable knowledge structure, high professional qualifications, good thought quality, and rich teaching experience. The College is equipped with 110 full-time and part-time teachers, and over half of them own senior titles of professional post.
　　With communication industry and higher vocational education as its characteristics, the College has established and perfected talent-training schemes according to the development of market economy, and the demand of the society and the industry. The students can not only grasp the necessary theoretical knowledge, but also obtain proficient vocational skills. The graduates are very popular with the society, and until March 2005, the contract-signing percentage of the graduates of the year 2005 is over 95%.
　　The College is developing multiple educational forms, with Vocational Skill Certification Station for Special Work Types of Communication Industry (state-grade), Guangdong Telecom Training Center, Guangdong Meixin Communication Vocational Skill Training Center, Guangdong Yuexun Engineering Co. Ltd, Out-school Study Center of Modern Long-distance Education of Beijing University of Posts and Telecom, Guangdong Correspondence Teaching Head Station of Xi’an University of Posts and Telecom, and Guangdong Posts and Telecom Guidance Center of Self-study and Testing as its attached institutions. Meanwhile, the College has established many fieldwork bases, together with some communication and IT enterprises. On the one hand, the College can develop multiple educational forms, and on the other hand, it can provide convenient conditions for the students to do professional fieldwork, obtain technical certificates required by the future employment, and study further.
